The surrounding counties offer you a vast array of historical, cultural, scenic, activity attractions.

Cavan: A busy market town and commercial centre, the county Capital was the seat of the O'Reillys of East Breffni, who built the Franciscan Friary in 1300. Only the belfry tower remains. Tullymongan Hill, on the outskirts of the town was the main residence of the O'Reillys which Shantemon Hill, 5km away, was the ancient auguration place of the clan chiefs. Other attractions in the county are Killykeen and Bellamont Forest Parks, Cavan Crystal, Cohan megalithic tomb, Cabra Castle, County Museum, Drumlane Church and Round Tower and of course, the Shannon Pot from which the great River Shannon springs.

Longford: Cashel Heritage Centre, Carriglass Manor, Corlea Trackway Exhibition Centre, Goldsmith Country, Michael Casey Studio, Courthouse, connections with General Humbert in Ballinamuckm 1798, Tidy Town winners of Ardagh and Newtowncashel, Cairn Hill, Edgeworths family connections, the boglands and Lough Ree.

Roscommon: Boyle includes King House, Frybook House and 12th century Abbey, Lough Key Forest Park, Arigna Scenic Drive, Keadue - burial place of OìCarolan, Drumanone Dolmen, Clonalis House, Ballintubber Castle, Rathcroghan, Douglas Hyde Centre, Strokestown House and Gardens, Rindon Castle dates back to 1227 (ruins), in Roscommon town its impressive Castle, historic Abbey, museum and stone built jail. Roscommon Racecourse extends from April to October, Percy French connections.

Fernamagh: Blacklion, Marble Arch Caves, Florence Court, Lough Navar Ely Lodge and Castle Caldwell Forest Parks, Crom Estate, Lough Erne, Lough MacNean, Blanket bogland of the Pettigoe Plateau.
